Lisa Follet, IBCLC
It was while I was completing my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Western Washington University that I discovered I wanted to go into the women’s healthcare field. I began a job as a medical assistant in an internal medicine clinic and began to absorb all of the medical knowledge I could. After graduating from WWU in 2007, I moved to Portland to complete my certificate in nursing. I was fortunate enough to get hired at my dream job at an OB/GYN clinic right after nursing school! I’ve spent the past 10 years caring for women through their pregnancies and postpartum and supporting them with their breastfeeding needs – everything from clinic visits to monthly breastfeeding classes. When I had my first daughter and struggled through almost every breastfeeding problem imaginable, I realized I wanted to become a lactation consultant to help mothers avoid problems like I faced (most were completely preventable). After many hours of education and training, I became a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. My husband and I have been married since 2012 and we now have 2 daughters. I have many years of personal and professional experience with marriage, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and parenting. To protect you and your newborn I am up-to-date on all of my vaccines including influenza, Tdap, and MMR. I feel honored that you would consider inviting me into your home to help your family accomplish your breastfeeding goals.
